"Bruital" est un mix entre brutal et bruit. La brutalité en musique peut prendre bien des formes, elle peut même sembler douce ou voluptueuse, elle a en ce sens les mêmes propriétés que la violence ou la rage qui peuvent être contenues et se répandre tout autour de nous à notre insu.
Blank est une série de podcasts qui a pour but de mettre en lumière les musiques sombres, contemporaines, expérimentales, bruitistes et extrêmes. Les productions sont exclusives à Bad to the Bone. La sélection des images a été réalisée par Vecteur Dissident et la mise en page par Hervé Coutin.

"THE CITY IN THE SEA" BY SAINTE MARINA

"Lo! Death has reared himself a throne
In a strange city lying alone
Far down within the dim West,
Where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
Have gone to their eternal rest.
There shrines and palaces and towers
(Time-eaten towers that tremble not!)
Resemble nothing that is ours.
Around, by lifting winds forgot,
Resignedly beneath the sky
The melancholy waters he." Discover more here

"THE BROKEN NIGHT" BY SUBSTENCIA

"Broken things open their hearts to us, giving us access to their true nature. Like children dissecting their toys to reveal the mechanics of their innards, we still seek the magic in inanimate things...." Discover more here

"CARESSE MA CARCASSE" BY JOANNA OJ

"A mix to awaken the dark side of the beast, made of disturbing pieces, satyric voices, crunching sound atmospheres, built all in tension.
An invitation to borrow dangerous curves, to dig incicatrisable cuts, to celebrate degeneration, to exhale its black passions."

"LE NOMBRIL DU DIABLE ” BY CARDBOARD LAMB.

Inspired by a water source in a village she knows in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Cardboard Lamb has created a mixtape loosely based on the feeling of exploring the landscape at night. An old Parish house stands across from an abandoned church. A scythe is needed to cut through an overgrowth of nettles, descending slowly unto a pool of crystal-clear, turquoise water. The pool is ice-cold and dangerous. Slivers of soil swirl above powerful quicksand. It has long been referred to as “devil’s bellybutton” in the region. If you step in, you perish.
Her best friend grows wasabi on its banks. Discover more here

“PLAYGROUND(S)” BY SOFABYOUDIE.
In Playground(s), SoFabYouDie explores a future where partying would be more than capitalist leisure. Simarly to Junk Playgrounds, ruins would become landscapes of imagination for all homo ludens thus creating clubs where we don't dance and bars without conversations. Only the violent kicks and metallic sounds shall remain. Playground(s) is a series of nostalgic and dark projections of imaginary games. Discover more here

"HARDAMBIENT" by LUCUS.
Hardambient is composed of bare superposed loops from techno, hardtechno, gabber, trance, etc., tracks (but the mere 1st), mixed with 4 decks. These loops are picked from the "quiet" parts of the tracks, sometimes with only one kick before or after the drop, to be merged into a magma, in which the identity of the tracks is suspended to form a faded metallic whole, until its implosion that opens over a not-yet-sketched future. The result is some hardambient, oxymoron of which the immanent meaning is expressed through the continuity that sounds like a perpetuous entrance. Discover more here

"ELEGY OF OUR DEMISE" by DIM LIGHT.
The initial idea for this mix was to just contrast light and dark by means of ambient and related genres. But while compiling the tracks I realized that there was a second driving force at work. Over the course of the last few years my already strong contempt for mankind has grown into proportions I never imagined. Looking back on our most recent historical events and the conclusions not drawn from them, neither on a larger scale nor in our multiple small „underground“ communities, there is not much left apart from giving in. “TOOTH OF LIFE AND DEADLY ORGANS" BY HA KYOON

Here is a physical journey through body, a succession of loneliness, as a succession of inner rituals.
HA KYOON imagined a sort of geographic card where all those different loneliness could meet themselves and have a dialogue.
These loneliness take forms through darkness or violence, or more rhythmical approach, voices or atmospheric sounds; taken at a turning point, before or after something, with a common point a vital energy to transform death into life. Discover more here.

“LES FLEURS DU MAL COLLAGE” BY ANCIENT METHODS

Like all great poets he was an acute observer and an ingenious translator of feelings. His words paint precise and poignant pictures of the shapeless and inenarrable, like a mood or a sentiment. Sometimes only music can have the same effect on me. Discover more here.

"TWO BLOOD TRAILS, TWO RIFFLES" BY LIEU NOIR

"2 Blood Trails, 2 Riffles" is a podcast through which Lieu Noir introduces a selection of tracks moving us into a post-apocalyptic landscape similar to Richard Stanley's movie Hardware. Lieu Noir uses this opportunity to give us exclusively "Absent Gods & Dead Immortals", the eponymous track from his EP to come in February on his own label PIT (Paso Inferior Tapes). This selection also perfectly reflects the complementarity of both John Z. K.'s projects..... Discover more here

“PERCOLATION" BY RAWKORDER

This mix is the logical follow-up of two years of you-know-what, I continued to buy a lot of records during this period but without the « physical » aspect of a club sound system, all the pure and harsh techno part of the spectrum has lost its appeal for living room listening and I have focused more on ambient, dub and other unclassifiable things. These are records that we have little opportunity to play during techno events while they are also part of my influences and what I would like to be inspired by in terms of production so it seemed logical to me to be able to also introduce them. So there are quite a few dancing moments, it is more thought of as the soundtrack of a calm evening at home. There are new stuff but also older tracks that I never tire of listening to.... “AUGURY" BY MUTANT JOE

This mix was somewhat of a departure from my typical live mixes in its arrangement/ tonal considerations. Having developed a slight cynicism towards the current direction of dance music, I chose tracks with little to no regard for genre or BPM, focusing more on tone and intensity. While there are a couple of danceable moments, it’s definitely hard to call this a ‘dance mix’, but more so a collection of tracks that explore the deconstruction of genre and my hopes for the direction of electronic music in the future... “SÉPARATISME” BY FRÉDÉRIC D. OBERLAND

Secede. To become a pack. A playground endlessly plowed by the restless of experimentation, those who choose off the beaten peaks path, radical, poetic, sensory, esoteric. “LUNE NOIRE” BY AESTHESIS

The evocation of a feeling of devotion related by changes of forms of these sound conceptions between the infernal and the divine, the attraction and the danger, the freedom or the narrowness, coming from a black abyss where the stars descend?
A multitude of sparks combining experimental music, neo-classical, electronica and industrial noises in an experience stimulating the relationship to meaning and loss of reference.
Beyond the lyrical narrative are instrumental mists, island works and distorted rhythms blending into a deep intensity... Discover more here.
